What a powerful little word, right? This beautiful word is short, but it packs a lot of power! I firmly believe our lives move around our trust levels because if we didn’t trust anyone or anything, we wouldn’t even be able to move. The reality is the more we trust, the more we open our hearts and minds. So, wouldn’t you agree it’s a powerful little word?
I love giving a graphic image or a physical sensation to the words I like the most or the ones that I really don’t like. For instance, if you read my post about the word ‘respect,’ you may remember that my image for that word is Mufasa from the Lion King. Or you may also remember that gratitude feels like a warm hug to me. I don’t know why I do it, but I always make a link between certain words and the way my mind processes them. Of course, I can’t leave the word ‘trust’ out of my game.
My hometown is known for many good things. Well, it used to be … everything has changed a lot in the last few years due to the current government’s poor management, but that’s not something I want to bring up today. My hometown has a very important embankment dam called Macagua. This dam supplies water to three power stations that generate a large amount of electricity for the entire country. If you haven’t seen a dam when it’s wide open, I highly recommend you to do it if you have a chance. It’s a fascinating view—the water is incredibly powerful. I’m not sure I can describe the feeling with words, but I’ll try my best.
As I briefly explained above, Macagua’s purpose is to generate electricity. So, the dam opens and closes depending on the need for power. When it’s open, the water flows with such tremendous power that it moves gigantic turbines, which convert the energy from the water into mechanical energy. If you saw the size of the turbines, you would understand how much power is needed to move them. When I lived there, I loved to go and feel the energy whenever the dam was open. Even from far away, the water’s power is so strong that you can feel the mist all over your face. It’s impossible not to feel the energy. Anyway, this is my graphic image for the word ‘trust.’
When our level of trust is wide open, it’s so powerful that it’s able to move mountains. Trust is an energy that can move us in any direction. However, because of our nature as humans, we tend to open and close our inner dam depending on how we feel about someone or something. Our nature makes us very protective, so we don’t easily trust once we’ve had a negative experience. Nevertheless, when we open the doors of trust completely, we become unstoppable. This is the reason Macagua is my image for the beautiful word ‘trust.’ I can’t find any better metaphor.
Of course, our trust levels are different, depending on the subject. For instance, we have a level of trust in our own selves. Many of us have a level of trust in God. We have a level of trust in others (this one varies depending on the people). So, it may happen that your inner dam is wide open for some people and completely closed for others. Or you may trust your capacity for some things and completely distrust yourself regarding other things. It all depends how your past experiences have shaped you.
The only subject that shouldn’t have a gray area for our trust level is our trust in God. We either trust Him completely or we don’t. What I’ve experienced so far in life is that the more I trust Him and let my inner dam open wide, the more power I feel to move in any direction. In my opinion, this is the most beautiful way of trusting—the one that never fails. The paradox here is that when we let this particular trust open, all other levels of trust also become empowered.
Life becomes increasingly more beautiful as you truly trust that you have been sent to this world with a purpose. Your relationships feel easier when you completely trust that you are with a particular person for a reason, and you let yourself enjoy each moment. You become unstoppable the moment you decide to trust yourself and understand than you are more than capable of achieving anything you want in life. Trusting is that moving energy that can take you anywhere, and it is your decision whether to let that energy flow.
So, if you notice that you’re having some issues with your trust levels, I would suggest you open the door to God first. If by any chance you don’t believe in God, then try to trust the universe or the energy of love. Something bigger than all of us is guiding us through this journey, so trust it with all your heart, and I promise you it will start moving you in better directions.
Open your inner dam wide to love, my friends, and your trust levels will get you anywhere you need to be. Where trust is placed, fear does not have a space. So, trust with your heart open because God will always be there to move you.
Love,
Irene
