My post today is not about divorcing the smart way. Instead, I feel the need to talk about what is currently happening. We are facing a critical global situation, and despite the overwhelming amount of news that is constantly surfacing, I want to let you know that this is a great time to practice awareness.
We are getting bombarded with so much news and information that our minds, by default, are working in reactive mode. This is normal! Our human nature is to react and protect ourselves. The problem is that every time we react, we do it with emotions and feelings. And when we take action or make decisions emotionally, the results are always subjective.
The situation we are facing as a society is overwhelming because we can’t control any of it externally. The only thing we can control is our own selves. This storm will pass for sure, but we have a great opportunity while it’s here to work out our awareness muscle.
There is a little exercise I created last year that I like a lot. When you read or listen to something and you start feeling anxious, take a minute to ask yourself: “Is this something that requires so much of my attention that it should disturb my present peace? Is this particular piece of information something I will remember a year from now?”
Too many times we read the news and we react. We don’t take the time to be rational, and we let the emotional part of our minds take control. Next thing you know, you are waiting in line at the supermarket to pay for a shopping cart full of toilet paper! What? 🙄
I’m not saying that we have to ignore what is happening. We need to take care of ourselves and our families. We have to follow the health experts’ recommendations. What we have to be careful about, however, is letting the storm stall inside us. This situation is happening to teach us a lesson. Let’s pay full attention to it with an open awareness. We will overcome this, and we will become stronger as a global society. God loves us all! This is something He knows we are totally able to tame.
While the storm is raging, we need to practice remaining calm. We have been designed to master our inner peace, and these are the workouts we get from the Universe to do so. We’ve got this!
Love,
Irene
